A UFO Photo Isn’t Worth What It Used to Be

Discussing the veracity of visual sightings will lead us nowhere. We need a new methodology to investigate UFO/UAP reality.

Forget about discussing the visual sightings of UFOs. They are worth nothing.

In this crazy digital age, anything can be made to look like anything else, whether it’s a still image or a video.

Why are we still discussing whether such-and-such an image or video is amazing or not? What does it matter? The veracity of an image is no longer to be trusted. Apps like Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Premiere forever changed the view of images and videos as “irrefutable evidence” of anything since they can edit any image or MP4 file beyond recognition.

Cellphones

What about billions of point-and-shoot cellphones? Aren’t they reliable tools to catch events in real-time? No, they are not, for two reasons:

  1. There are dozens of mobile image and video editing apps available for cellphones that accomplish a wide range of image and video manipulation, similar to Photoshop and Premiere. Thus just because an image is captured on a mobile phone does not mean that it is not edited.
  2. Even when we assume and believe that an image is original, with no edits, what it means is still open to interpretation…
