The Beginning of the End of Something in America

I’ll remember this day as long as I live.

I’m writing this just minutes after watching the chairpersons of the six committees of the U.S. House of Representatives announce two articles of impeachment against the 45th President of the United States.

This is such a sad, important, and also awe-inspiring day.

It’s the beginning of the end of something in America but I don’t yet know what.

I’m not a politician or a writer who writes about politics. I’m not a historian either.

But I can just feel it, this tectonic shift. The Rubicon is crossed. We are all living in a different country already.

After months and years of acrimony and grinding friction, it all came to this.

The country is badly divided into two factions, both adamant in their public positions, despite rumors of private misgivings about both the process and the goal pursued.

There does not seem to be a smooth solution to all this that all Americans can agree on.
