Very comprehensive article. Well-researched and written. Thank you. I lived in Austin in the pre-Dell and pre-South-by-Southwest days. It was a slow-paced, intimate, inviting place with a lot of arts, co-ops, and experimentation in small-scale lifestyles and direct democracy. The last time I visited Austin the difference was staggering. It truly turned into another hustling-bustling corporate business hub. Although sorry to hear the corporate meltdown that COVID-19 has caused, I still believe that, given the brain-power and creative energy in the city, Austin will survive this challenge and again emerge as a great place to live because I've known Austin minus any VC or downtown skyscrapers and it was still a beautiful peaceful place to live. We should not equate corporate profits with good life.
